BIO

The Baker Boys are a friendly Northern seven-piece Funk Brass Band from Yorkshire consisting of 2 trumpets, 1 saxophone, 2 trombones, 1 sousaphone and drums. Our group of professional musicians met at the Royal Northern College of Music in the early 2000s.

From the Sid Lawrence Orchestra to the Halle Orchestra and the BBC Philharmonic to Ibiza DJ Jeremy Healy and the Prince Experience, it’s easier to count the professional ensembles in the North of England that these musicians haven’t played with than those they have.

With a broad repertoire spanning brass classics and covers of contemporary pop hits, expect to hear the likes of diverse artists from Robbie Williams and Lady Gaga to Ed Sheeran, The Jackson 5 and Survivor recreated in a bold brass sound!

Wearing their trademark flat caps,The Baker Boys are in high demand on home soil and abroad for their distinctive and engaging performances. With undeniable chemistry between the band members, their energy is infectious and guarantees a fun and enjoyable show. Having played countless international events including weddings, festivals, parties, corporate events, pubs, town events and more, they are comfortable in any event setting. Fabulous indoors or out – we won’t disappoint!

They are in high demand in 2019. We have some really exciting clients this year including England Cricket, Headingley, The Tour de Yorkshire, Welcome to Yorkshire, Magic Rock Brewery, Wetherby Race Course and Meadowhall to name but a few. We are also playing at Kendal Calling (on the main stage) and Liverpool Sound City Festival. We will also be performing with Tim Burgess of The Charlatans and as the UK’s only representative at the Haizetara International Street Music competition in Spain.

The Baker Boys performed at our community event in York and were amazing! Their communication was great and they made the booking process so simple. Their mixture of old and new music struck a note with the different generations in the crowd and got them up and dancing.’

The Baker Boys are a pleasure to work with. Providing high quality, atmospheric funky tunes. Well versed in working the crowd, as they did with such aplomb at Holmfirth Food and Drink Festival and their gig at The Nook, Holmfirth. Top drawer musicians paired with real ale – brilliant!’

‘…the outdoor stage at Constellations proved one of the highlights of Saturday, with a great blend of stylistically varied talent. With festival-goers enjoying the sporadic sun with intermittent clouds, many with a cold drink in hand – for much of the day the stage felt really summery, with great vibes provided as a result of many excellent bands. As the night drew on, and the fire pit was lit, revellers enjoyed a stunning set courtesy of The Baker Boys, whose uniquely energetic rhythms left crowds demanding more as their set drew to a close. Truly top performers.’

Liverpool Sound City

‘Then we headed out to the garden and just happened to bump into The Baker Boys Band. They were playing brass covers of Beyonce, Rihanna, Cee Lo Green, Van Halen, White Stripes and ended on a mass singalong of Robbie Williams’ Angels. If you’d have told us that Robbie Williams would be responsible for a Sound City highlight, we’d have laughed in your face.

And yet, there was something about the unpretentiousness of it all that seemed to create a real moment. People were dancing on tables and enjoying themselves in a way that we didn’t really see at the other stages. Peppering pure, unabashed fun into the proceedings made all the difference, and we left totally re-energised. And if you think we’re exaggerating, check this; they were the only act of the entire weekend where we saw a packed audience chanting for an encore.’
